Coach Scott Hammond coached Division 1 college swimming for 24 years
His achievements are highlighted by a nine year Hall of Fame career at Ohio University and coaching at his alma mater North Carolina State University from 1995-2000.
In his coaching career, he coached over 30 All-American swimmers, as an athlete or coach, a part of 14 Conference Championship Teams, and was President of the College Swimming Coaches Association. Scott has worked for the Fred Smith Company, started a business, Loring Management Group which has managed the Golf Course, Athletic Clubs, and Pools for the Fred Smith Company Sports Club since 2002.
An All-State swimmer from Darien, Connecticut, Scott swam and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1976. Scott then coached at Clemson University, The University of Texas , and Tulane University before going to Ohio University in 1986.
He lives in Clayton and his son, Matt and his wife Ashley, and Scott’s granddaughter, Willowlive in Holly Springs, N.C. His step-daughter lives in Wilmington, N.C.
