Riverwood Vs Weldon Ridge Results and Recap

Thank you for driving out to Weldon Ridge and for being flexible as the host club threw some curve balls our way.

Some from their club were worried about it being a mistmatch due to Riverwood being ranked in North Division 4 while Weldon Ridge is South Division 8. That is why they tried to change it to what would have essentially been a time trial. I recognized that some of you were upset about driving all that way and it wasn’t what I’d agreed to with the Weldon Ridge TSA rep prior to the meet. I’m glad they agreed to switch back to a more standard approach. Later their stroke and turn judge apologized and admitted she handled the backstroke start issue poorly, and incorrectly. That escalated quickly and is a good example of why both clubs should let their respective TSA reps work through any questions, concerns, confusion, rules interpretations, etc. It was a learning experience for everyone involved.

The unofficial, because it wasn’t a TSA-scheduled meet, final score had Riverwood at 329.5 and Weldon Ridge at 181.5. The half points resulted from a place-judged tie in the 9-10 boys backstroke, thereby splitting the points.

  • No team records were broken, which is to be expected considering there were no blocks and swimmers had to start in the water for the younger relays.
  • There were several triple winners: Courtney McCoy, Liam Muminovic, Raston Sharron, Anya Muminovic, Sadler Miller, and Coach Jonathan Raynor.

NEXT MEET INFO…

Today I put in all the entries and relays from last night into the system for the virtual meet against Cary Park. I’m waiting for them, as the host team, to finalize their entries and merge (build) the meet so we can enter all the times from last night. Once that is completed the meet will be automatically scored and I should be able to share the results with all of you via emailed pdf reports. I do not know when that will be as it all depends on Cary Park.

Looking ahead, the next two meets are virtual at Riverwood Athletic club. Meaning, there will be no visiting team/club and results will be scored online based on time the way we’re doing this week with Cary Park.

Respectfully,

Jesse Sharron
