Last night’s meet vs Springdale played out much as expected. The divisions and rankings have been frozen for the past three years due to COVID and that hasn’t been good to Springdale.

They are 0-5 this season and the frustration, among some of their parents and swimmers, was evident. Or, some of them just aren’t good people. Whatever the case, the Riverwood swimmers either weren’t aware or didn’t seem to let it bother them. I may or may not need to continue dealing with the unnecessary drama (on Springdale’s part) at the league level.

We also nearly had to delay the start of the meet due to our own volunteer issues. If you sign up for a job then don’t show up it puts our team in a bad spot. At the very least please contact me to let me know that you’re unable to attend. If you’re unsure as to what you signed up for you can see it within the free (and paid) version of the Swimtopia Mobile App as well as by logging in to your Swimtopia account. Thank you to Brad Farrell for stepping up, at literally the last minute, so we could start the meet on time.

Final scores: Springdale 177 and Riverwood 333

Ford Teague broke the team record in the 6U 15 yard freestyle and Raston Sharron broke the pool record in the 13-14 boys 50 yard backstroke

Double winner: Ford Teague

Triple Winners: Chelsea Cotham, Elijah Hammons, Raston Sharron, and Sadler Miller

Riverwood closes out the regular season next week at Bedford. This is a 25 meter (longer than 25 yards) pool so expect times to appear “slower” but also expect all swimmers to swim a best time (at 25 meters) and for multiple (short course meters – SCM) records to be broken. Please declare your swimmers attendance and sign up for any remaining volunteer positions/jobs.

Another reminder, if you intend to have your swimmer(s) participate in the optional TSA Championship Saturday 7/23 then please declare them for the appropriate session (10U morning or 11-18 afternoon) within Swimtopia.
